We are a mission-driven Working Coalition focused on needs in the community. We operate on a consensus and move as effectively and efficiently as time and financial constraints permit. On the rare occasion that we cannot agree how to move forward or we feel the decision is too weighty to be made alone, we seek the input, challenging questions and votes from our Board, also known as “The Decision-Making Council.” These elders, prophets and seers came about when leaders and members of the Education Committee for the Coalition for the People’s Agenda decided to spin off from the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and form their own PAC (Political Action Committee). Those ties were officially severed earlier this year after complaints of repeated unethical conflicts of interest being committed by one or more of its three co-chairs went unaddressed.
Our organization’s leadership began as a coalition of community leaders from a racially diverse group of historically marginalized, LGBTQ+, disabled, poor grassroots voices and their allies and accomplices, with an emphasis on transparency and accountability in public education in Louisville, Kentucky. The DMC members are asked to vote in the event the Working Coalition cannot come up with a consensus on endorsements, policies, spending decisions and other impasses that prevent our mission’s work from moving forward.
