Black History Matters

This speech was given by David Lott, on Oct. 1, 2017, in an effort to encourage the district to incorporate a “complete overhaul in how history is taught so that comprehensive Black History is integrated into all US History classes, so that it more accurately reflects how we view our common past.”

Unfortunately, a bill was recently pre-filed in the Kentucky General Assembly that risks causing even more educational harm by taking decision making ability away from our elected school board, district leaders and site based decision making councils. A campaign is currently underway to fight this legislation. For more information about how to support these efforts, contact Tyra Walker or KA Owens with the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression or Gay Adelmann with Dear JCPS.
